Whipping up tasty meals at home just became a cinch! Gourmet Garden is my new bestie in the kitchen – fresh, organic herbs and spices all chopped up and ready to go in the convenience of a tube. Just squeeze and prepare to please! From basil, parsley, dill and garlic to more exotic delights like lemongrass and cilantro, these babies will instantly punch up any meal. I simply boil some pasta then squeeze in some of the Basil, a touch of the Garlic, mix it up and voila… in less than 10 minutes a supremely tasty meal is ready to be served – and no rinsing, no chopping, no slicing, no dicing required! My other favorite is creating a salad dressing by stirring the Basil into a little bowl of olive oil, a few squeezes of lemon and a dash of salt – this award-worthy concoction always generates many oohs and aahs. Take boring steamed veggies to new heights by tossing them with a few squeezes of the Dill. The ideas and possibilities are truly endless! They last several months in the frig and are gluten-free. For those with dairy sensitivities, know that one of the ingredients lower on the list is whey. Available at supermarkets across the country (click HERE for all locations). Bon Appetit!
Join me for a blissful day in the beautiful seaside town of Manhattan Beach today (Sunday, December 8th) to celebrate my new children’s book, No Biggy! There’ll be fun activities for the kids, lots of tasty organic treats and take home goodies for both kids and grown-ups. It’s all going down at 12:30 pm at Pages: A Bookstore – 904 Manhattan Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 – 310.318.0900.
Endorsed by New York Times Bestselling Author and Pediatrician, Dr. Cara Natterson and inspiring celebrity moms: Julie Bowen, Jaime Pressly, Megyn Cotner, and Sarah Shahi, I wrote No Biggy! to help kids manage frustration. After all, getting frustrated is a part of life. And whether the curious little girl in this story is working on a puzzle, getting the zipper to slide up her jacket or trying to spread peanut butter on a piece of toast, she learns how to manage frustration by taking a deep breath, saying No Biggy! and trying again. She even teaches her mommy and daddy a thing or two, cuz grownups sure get frustrated a lot too.

Looking forward to seeing you!
Hot dignity! If these are being handed out to the little ghosts and goblins tonight I’m going trick or treating myself… Matt’s Munchies Apple-Licious Fruit Snacks are little slices of heaven. They come in a handy on-the-go pack (perfect for lunch boxes or stashing in the car) and these mini chewy fruit delights are super easy to eat – just peel off a square and munch away. Made with organic mango puree and organic apple flavor, they’re packed with Vitamins A and C and have eight grams of sugar. Try all of the tempting flavors – from Banana and Apricot to Chili Chocolate and Raspberry Delight. I’ll say it again, they’re darn tasty. Even better, they’re spook-a-licious! Happy Halloweeeeeeen!
Several months ago I wrote about Dr. Harvey’s miracle dog food. This stuff has been a life saver for my precious pup. Her tummy troubles are now a thing of the past, her coat is softer than ever and she has more energy. Preparing it is like making a bowl of oatmeal. Pour the Dr. Harvey’s Veg-To-Bowl in a bowl, add hot water and let it sit for about 8 minutes until it softens. During that time I quickly cook up a pound or so of shredded turkey or beef (5 minutes) and mix that into the veggies. Then voila…supremely healthy, wholesome food that dogs go crazy for. As I’ve mentioned, it’s a little more time consuming then pouring a bunch of kibble into a bowl, but it’s so worth the few extra minutes. And now that Dr. Harvey’s has created Oracle, making the food is even more of a cinch. Oracle is a complete meal so the protein (chicken or beef) is already inside (no need to cook it up). Just add the hot water, let it sit and it’s ready to go. Dr. Harvey’s offers cat food, supplements and healthy treats too. And by the way, no the photo attached to this blog is not some delicious gourmet dish I whipped up. It’s actually a bowl of Oracle! So when I make a big batch and keep the container in the refrigerator I always label it. There have been several occasions where friends and family were just seconds away from taking a bite. Doh!
These instantly caught my attention – ips All Natural Egg White
Ch(ips). Clever spelling there, right? We’re talking devilishly tasty, hearty chips that aren’t fried and loaded with 7 grams of protein per serving (thanks to those wholesome egg whites). They’re available in such mouth-watering flavors as Aged White Cheddar, Barbecue, Sea Salt/Black Pepper and even Cinammon Sugar to help satisfy your sweet tooth. They’re also gluten-free, contain 50% less fat than regular potato chips and are all natural (meaning no fake stuff). I don’t know about you but I’m squirreling away a few bags of these ips for myself since the kids are quickly gobbling them all up. Dig in!
My search for an all-around everyday sun hat has ended. The Santa Cruz Reversible Hat by Coolibar has you covered (pun intended!). It’s comfortable, has a generous 4-inch brim that shades my face really well, it’s crushable (in other words, perfect for travel), it’s washable, it has UPF 50+ ( meaning the fabric blocks 98% of UVA and UVB rays), it’s reversible (white/tan is my favorite since these colors stay cooler under those powerful rays), and it looks pretty darn good too. Even more happy news… the price is very fair at just $35. I wear it for walks, both in and out of the pool, at the beach, and nary a new freckle appears. Coolibar offers tons of other hats so you’re guaranteed to find something you like. I’m a big fan of their sun protection clothes and swimwear too. And, they even have a ton of gear for guys and kids – that means one stop summer shopping for the entire fam!

Here I’ve been relishing my super fancy hair conditioners, all the while my daughter’s stuff was quietly peeking out at me from the shower ledge. Her bottle of Clean Kids Naturally – Banana Smoothie Detangler was in such easy reach I grabbed the bottle and took the plunge. All I can say is “Wow!” This delectable scented concoction works better than most of my brand name, grown up conditioners. I knew it was going to be good the instant I smoothed a dollop onto my hair – it felt super creamy. And I’ve gone crazy for the banana scent. It’s all natural and vegan too – which is why I bought it in the first place – no parabens, artificial colors, sulfates, and all that other icky stuff. This banana smoothie tames our very thick, wavy hair and leaves it soft, shiny and easy to brush. Hmm, makes ya wonder… what other cool treasures are waiting to be discovered in the kids product section?
